It's All Happening at the Zoo?

Most of us have gone to the zoo in our lifetime and have marveled at the wild cats, the monkeys, the marsupials and all the many others.  All zoos state that they are there to save the creatures and help conserve the many species.  I suggest that you all donate to these zoos because it appears that several species are declining.  Some species that are diminishing are tigers, lions, rhinos, vultures, polar bears, penguins, amphibians, and primates.

Tigers
Research shows that at the beginning of the 20th century there were 100,000 tigers in the wild but at the beginning of the 21st century there were 5-6,000 tigers left.  "Due to the tigers' position at the top of the food chain, habitat viability and prey population density are heavily dependent on the tigers continued survival."  Tigers are also symbols for many different cultures.  The tiger was incorporated into many coats of arms because it represented power and strength.  The tiger has an influence in the Hindu and Buddhist religions.  The tiger is incorporated in the Chinese culture as an honored creature in the Zodiac.  (1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998) You can help by donating money to the fund at this website:
http://www.savethetigerfund.org/Content/NavigationMenu2/TakeAction/Donate/default.htm

                                                         Lions
In the 1980s, there were around 200,000 lions roaming the wild.  Now, there are fewer than 20,000 roaming the wild.  If this species became extinct, then there would be a growth in the animals the lions hunted.  There would eventually be so many that they would "overgraze their habitat" and the water sources would be affected and the habitat would fall as would the different species of prey.  People also hunt down lions and tigers, for that matter, for their pelts.  Hunting endangered animals for their pelts is a BIG NO in my book.  Please donate money to:  http://www.savethelions.org/

Rhinos
People in Asia and Africa are killing Rhinos for their horns.  They believe that the horns have medicinal properties.  The poaching of rhinos is illegal in these countries, but it doesn't stop people from doing it.  "An estimated three rhinos were illegally killed each month in all of Africa from 2000-05, out of a population of around 18,000. In contrast, 12 rhinoceroses now are being poached each month in South Africa and Zimbabwe alone."  Almost all species of rhinos are endangered.  Donate to: http://www.savetherhino.org/eTargetSRINM/site/568/default.aspx

Vultures
The vulture population is shrinking drastically.  Cattle farmers gave a medication to their cattle in order to cure a variety of diseases.  The cattle died from kidney failure as an effect from the drug.  The vultures fed off of the dead cattle and died because it was poison.  It was careless of the cattle farmers to do that.  Scientists say that the lack of vultures is unhealthy.  It means that the carcasses are now the perfect spot for tons of bacteria to produce. Please find a way to donate money.

Polar Bears
Polar bears are up against pollution, climate change, hunting, and oil exploration.  In 2005, 5 subpopulations of polar bears were declining, 5 were increasing, and 2 were increasing.  In 2009, eight subpopulations were declining, 3 were stable, and 1 was increasing.  Donate to: http://www.polarbearsinternational.org/donate-and-help

Penguins
Scientists have noticed the declining number of penguins within years and are not sure of the reason why.  They believe it might be due to overfishing or climate change.  Numbers have decreased from the millions.  Please find a way to help.

Amphibians
Amphibians are important because they tell us about our environment.  They have been called "environmental markers" Since they are so sensitive to changes in the environment, maybe the environment is making their numbers diminish.  Please donate: http://www.amphibianark.org/donation-form/

Primates
50% of the world's primates are facing extinction.  There are about 720 mountain gorillas still in existence.  They are close to extinction because of "poaching, murder, exploitation, and deforestation."  Donate money to: http://www.save-the-primates.org.au/donate.htm

It is vital that people understand the perilous position some of our beloved animals are in.  Please donate money to different causes in order for these species to be saved.  I took a lot of information from different sites so if anything was plagiarized please let me know.  I hope you can help.

101 Ideas for Your Blog!

You saw this title and thought,
"I do need help writing my blog posts."  or
"I need to write something for class, maybe this will help." or
"This girl is a good writer (I laugh), maybe she can help."
By the way, major sarcasm on the last one.  I usually have a really hard time coming up with things to write about on my blog.  I want you to relate to it and enjoy it.  I am also very lazy.  To make a long story, short: Google is my friend.
Just to let you know, Google did not give me any ideas for my previous posts.  This one, I have to give a little credit.  I opened up Google and typed into the popular search engine, "ideas for blog posts."  I immediately saw promising headings to websites that could "help" me.  I opened up a number of the links and I was disappointed.  I was not satisfied with a single idea.  They all bored me.  They were just like generic English class essays.  So I decided that maybe I should try writing 101 blog ideas.  Well, I said I would try.  Hey, maybe I will use some.

1.)  Okay, let's see...do you have an addiction?  Write about it.
2.) First one came pretty easily, ok...do you stalk a celebrity?  Write about it.
3.) Number 2 gave me trouble. Hmmm...most ridiculous thing in the world.  Write about it.
4.) Favorite town/city/state/country.  Write about it.
5.) Write about your passion.
6.) What is at the top of your Amazon wish list?  Or any wish list for that matter.
7.) What makes you angry?
8.) Create another world.
9.) Who do you wish you were.
10.) Write 50 things you hate.

I'm sorry I tried.  I honestly did.  I did about 9% of that.  I made an effort.  These all seem like English class compositions.

The point of this post is that I have blogger's block.  I have some blog posts in mind but I can't write about them until I'm in Chicago.  So, that's going to have to wait.  I will have to keep thinking won't I? To make your time reading this worthwhile though, I will answer the 10 questions I wrote up above.

1.) Do I have an addiction?

I have a problem.  I am addicted to swimming pools.  I know I should be ashamed. I don't have a swimming pool and whenever a friend invites me over I basically tie myself to the pool and I stay inside it the whole time.  It's gotten to the point that my friends beg me to get out of the pool.  Oops.  So if you were smart you would invite me to your pool.  :)

2.) Do I stalk a celebrity?

No, I don't stalk a celebrity.  No, I'm not a belieber.  No, I do not like Zac Efron.  I'm not one of those people and my friends aren't either.  We are non-beliebers.  We tend to frown on people who are.

3.) What do I think is the most ridiculous thing in the world?

6 inch stilettos.  Do you want to kill yourself?  I didn't think so.

4.) What is my favorite city/town/country?

Favorite city in the world is Seattle.  I love Seattle.  Everything there is extremely laid back and it is a very clean city which when it is sunny, is extremely beautiful.  I recommend to visit there.  Go to Elliot Bay, trust me.  If you visit Elliot's Oyster House, DO NOT eat the chocolate souffle.  Yes, I'm saying don't eat the chocolate dessert.  I'm shocked too.

5.) What is my passion?

I love to travel.  I feel that when I'm going somewhere, it is a whole new adventure and I feel that I have to know everything about where I'm going.  It's a wonderful feeling and I wish I could travel with my friends.  I think I change when I'm in another town, I am more relaxed and at ease.  I just have to keep reminding myself that I don't live there.

6.) What is the top of my wish list?

In the materialistic way, I would love a car.  Dream car: Maserati GranCabrio.  Don't get me started...

7.) What makes me angry?

This is a fault of mine but I hate criticism.  I also hate it when people judge me wrongly.  I really shouldn't be so close-minded but that's who I am.

8, 9, and 10 are going to take me forever to write so that's another blog post.  I will try to break this blogger's block.

The iPod Shufflings: Part 3

We have come to part 3 of the iPod Shufflings.  I will be going to Chicago in a few weeks so when I am there I will have plenty of time to write on the blog.  I will let you know about where I visit and where you should go!

So, in "The iPod Shufflings" I will press shuffle on my iPod and will write a review on the first ten songs.  I have all different genres of music on my iPod including a few classical and several Latin songs.

I will rate the songs from 1 to 5.

5 music notes: Yelling the lyrics on the street at the top of your lungs!
4 music notes: Singing to yourself quietly on the street.
3 music notes: Worth listening to a few times, but not over and over again.
2 music notes: Good at first, but became annoying.
1 music note:   Not good at all.

The Shuffling

1.) I Can't Stop Loving You by Michael Jackson (From the album: Number Ones)

This song has extremely meaningful lyrics and makes me feel very happy.  Everyone misses MJ and this song is a perfect example of how we feel towards him.  We Can't Stop Loving Him.

3 music notes ***

2.) Higher by Taio Cruz and Travie McCoy (Single)

Something 'bout this beat has got me hooked.  I can't get enough!  A very noticeable beat and lyrics you learn quickly so that you can sing it with your friends.  A song that has been a favorite on my iPod for a long time now.

4 music notes ****

3.) Vanilla Twilight by Owl City (From the album: Ocean Eyes)

A lighthearted love song which makes me ponder.  Yes, ponder.  It makes me think about the lyrics and immerse myself in the melody.  The piano in the background makes me envious that I cannot play that well.  It is hard for me to describe the music video to this song because I can't find the words to describe it.  The word that comes to mind is: inspirational.  It has a very gentle, subdued, feel to it which makes me love this song.
4 music notes ****

4.) She Wolf by Shakira (Single)

She Wolf is a song one of my friends and I sing all the time.  It talks about a girl who is looking for a guy to love and Shakira describes her as  a she wolf because she is hunting down her "prey."  I don't understand the heavy breathing in this song at all.  Very...ummm...different???  In the music video her dancing is very strange and slightly spastic.  I still love the concept of the song and her singing.

3 music notes ***

5.) 1983 by Neon Trees (Single)

I love this song!  It is not too repetitive and the music is amazing.  I wish that I could meet Neon Trees because they have never disappointed me with their songs.  This is one of the few songs that isn't auto-tuned and is actually real singing.  You have read this line in previous posts before.

5 music notes *****

6.) Minority by Green Day (From the album: International Superhits)

I love the guitar playing in this song.  This song really represents what we feel.  Green Day is also sending the message of being yourself and not wanting to go with the crowd.  Not many people chose to go against the flow so there is a minority of people doing that.  So, I want to be a minority!

5 music notes *****

7.) Don't Wanna Go Home by Jason Derulo (Single)

This is a great song to dance to.  I love this song so much because you just want to get up and dance when you listen to it.  I usually don't like it when people take old songs and incorporate them in new songs but this one actually works.

5 music notes *****

8.) Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae

The lyrics in this song are very different.  It talks about there being a crazy party "tonight, tonight" after a hard week of work.  This is the perfect song to listen to during a party because "tonight, tonight, there's a party on the rooftop tonight, tonight, and we're dancin' on the edge of a Hollywood sign."

3 music notes ***

9.) Black or White by Michael Jackson (From the album: Number Ones)

And I Told About Equality
An It's True
Either You're Wrong
Or You're Right.

4 music notes ****

10.) Dinosaur by Ke$ha (From the album: Animal)

I wouldn't listen to this song all the time because frankly, I know how to spell dinosaur.  Also, why would you write a song about how old men stare at girls.  I have to give credit though to the originality.
